According to Intel and Microsoft's testing, Windows 7 has proved to be more energy efficient than XP or Vista.

Microsoft and Intel demonstrated how the required power consumption of Windows 7 was much less than the previous version of Windows OS. This means that notebook users will be able to feel the battery life is longer, if you use Windows XP or 7 than Vista.

From the test carried out Microsoft as 'pit' Windows 7 vs. Vista, the results of Windows 7 has better battery life time between 10% -20% compared to Vista. This is measured by rotating the standard DVD format on the second OS, with the same hardware by Microsoft.

The fact is Windows 7 excel in all lines when compared to Vista, not to mention the power consumption problem. According to PCMag, Windows 7 was only 16.53 watts consumed to play DVDs, while Vista SP2 is 18.35 watts. Windows 7 is more superior about 11%.
